A Few Words on Perfection

Perfectionism is one of the heartbreaking and exhausting traps we find ourselves stepping into on this journey.

The perfect diet.

The perfect treatment.

The perfect environment.

The perfect timing.

The perfect everything.

Perfect is an empty, boldface lie. One of the most seductive lies we tell ourselves.

The finest doctors in the finest hospitals can only promise one thing: they will do their best.

What would be different about your journey if you allowed yourself to live by the same standard?

“Perfectionism is not the same thing as striving to be your best. Perfectionism is not about healthy achievement and growth. Perfectionism is the belief that if we live perfect, look perfect, and act perfect, we can minimize or avoid the pain of blame, judgment, and shame. It’s a shield. Perfectionism is a twenty-ton shield that we lug around thinking it will protect us when, in fact, it’s the thing that’s really preventing us from taking flight.”–Dr. Brene Brown

Give yourself a chance to take flight on your journey.
