I know people are probably wearing the fuck out of the fact that we are in a new decade, but I just love emphasizing the enormity of that, because it’s a powerful reminder of how fast time flies.
And it’s milestones like a new year and a new decade that can really be a catalyst for real change. Particularly on this journey. Time can really put some things into perspective. Just think about it. Your approach to fertility at 20, 30, 40, and for some of you, 50, is totally different. It changes with each decade.
And I know you might be thinking, 50? What the fuck? All I can say is this. Woman, you never know. You just never know. Celebrate your sisters who hear the call to motherhood and accept it at whatever their age. Celebrate your sisters fearlessness in pursuing their dreams. Here’s why. When you can do that for someone else, it’s a hell of a lot easier to do it for yourself.
Can I get an amen? In any event, this is a new decade. Give yourself a clean slate on this journey. Take the lessons from the last year and the last decade and drop the negativity. You have a whole new year and a whole new decade to set your sights on. Isn’t that fucking exciting? So decide here and now that you’re gonna be the boss of it.
Okay, okay. I’ll stop saying boss like that, but you know what I mean. I just love the swagger that comes with that. That’s really fearless. I don’t give a shit. I’m owning this swagger. It’s exactly the kind of swagger that when you’re taking repeated hits to the chin, you need. So let’s talk about how to start being the boss of 2020.
And the place to start is with context. Put this journey and why you are on it in proper context. I spoke a bit about this on Instagram live recently, which by the way, if you’re not following me on Instagram, you need to do it right now at Roseanne Austin fertility. Go follow me right now. So you can hear me pop off every Sunday and help you set your intentions for the week.
Here’s what I mean when I say context in the context of this journey. Think about why you are doing what you are doing every month of trying the treatments, the investments, the supplements, the crazy diets, the acupuncture, the coaching, the driving hundreds of miles. You get it. Put all of those things in proper context.
You are doing those things to fulfill a calling. This calling to be a mom is literally shaping your family tree. Just let that sink in for a moment. Really let that sink in. By doing what you are doing on this journey, you are shaping your family tree. You have this in your heart because it was meant for you and this is your chance to have a powerful influence on your family’s history.
The love you have in your heart is contributing to your lineage and your family’s story. No matter how you are going about motherhood, my darling. Get this into your soul! Frankly, it doesn’t matter how you become a mother. Naturally, IVF, donor egg, surrogacy, adoption, you name it. You may have your vision and your preference about that, and that’s awesome.
Rock on with your bad self. You do you. But I want you to understand that no matter how you go about your path to motherhood, get the enormity of what you are doing into that precious soul of yours. Bottom line, this is about love. This is about your contribution to humanity. This isn’t just some vanity project.
You have something to add. Your dreams matter. When you put your desire to be a mom in its proper context, which I respectfully submit is this, You won’t give a fuck about statistics, what other people say, low vibe judgments about your journey that you may have had. You will look at money and your investments on this journey completely differently.
You will look at challenges differently. And most importantly, you will see your role on this journey in an insanely different way. Even if someone else carries your baby for you, or gives you the blessing of one of her eggs, you are still that baby’s mama! You are still answering the call and stepping into the role.
When you really get this idea into your bones, you become the boss of 2020. You are literally saying, look motherfuckers, I have a job to do. No negative thought, nay saying, or lack of faith is going to get in my way. Being the boss of 2020 and your journey is stepping into a new level of conviction on this journey and in your life.
It’s the kind of conviction we can find in causes or movements outside of ourselves. It’s just that this time, the cause and the movement is us. Just chew on that shit for a second. When you see yourself and your journey in this way, you can begin seeing yourself as the steward of something truly sacred.
Motherhood is sacred. I can say that to you as a woman who lived this journey long enough to really fucking get that. And here’s an example. The other day, Asher and I were sitting together in a big comfy chair watching Frozen. Which, to be honest, I can barely stand. But the reason why I couldn’t resist watching it with him was because when he said, with that little voice, Mama wanna watch Frozen?
How the fuck could I possibly say no? It is moments like that that we long for, that speak to our heart, that literally bring us to tears. Because we know that was meant for us, not stepping up and, and providing yourself with the circumstances and the opportunity to have those things is like watching someone else win your fucking gold medal, right?
This is why we keep putting one foot in front of the other on this journey. When you truly understand the context. Again, this is not a vanity project, this is you answering the call in your heart. And woman, as you listen to this, you were meant to have your own moments like that. When you become the boss of 2020 and you step up to this journey like it’s your fucking contribution to humanity, whatever challenge comes your way, you own that bitch like Wonder Woman on crack.
Challenges, disappointments, and haters? They’ll just fuel the fucking fire. A key reason why we let fear, negativity, naysaying, or disappointments get in our way is because we treat our desires like they don’t matter. We often think that it’s somebody else doing it to us, but we do a pretty good fucking job.
of belittling our own desires. Quit doing that. You cannot have a situation where you’re treating the desires of your heart like the spurious aspirations of a woman who wants too much. You wouldn’t believe how often I hear women belittle their heart’s desires in that way. It’s insane. Treat your desire to be a mom like it’s your fucking mission.
Because it is. When you do, you become the boss of this year and this decade. You don’t run from decisions, you stick in there for the tough shit, you take leaps of faith like other history making ladybosses do. And lastly, here’s the kicker, family tree shaping reason to be the boss of 2020. It’s because of who you become in the process.
You become the woman who had the titanium ovaries to fucking take a stand for her dreams and can teach her children to do the same. You won’t have to be the chump who just guesses at what it’s like to make their dreams come true. You’ll be able to look your miracle baby in the eye and tell them their origin story.
You will tell them that you answered the call and you didn’t give up on yourself or them. That’s real gangster shit there. You will be able to model to them what it means to live on purpose with purpose. You’ll be able to teach with authority what it means to stand against the bullying that goes on when you break away from the pack and live your dreams.
Instead of giving up like other sheep, you will teach with experience and authority what it means to face adversity and have compassion for others who face it too. Because at some point, we all do. The best thing ever is when you teach this, you won’t be guessing or parroting some bullshit you didn’t have the guts to follow yourself.
Your kids will see in your eyes that mama fuckin lived it. 2020 isn’t just a new year and a new decade. It’s about your vision, baby. Be the boss of it. Take this in, my darling. This is some ninja shit right here. This is a long term gift that you will give to your children. Be that. Be the boss of 2020. Be the person that you have to be right now to make your dreams come true.
Not only will you be able to hold your miracle babies because of it, but you will be able to teach your children to live it.
