Odds on their fertility journey just like I did. Get ready for a quick hit of confidence, joy, feminine, bad assery, and loads of hell Yes.
For your fertility journey. It’s time to get fearless, baby fearlessly fertile. Let’s do this. Welcome to the Fearlessly Fertile Podcast, episode five. The simple question that can transform your fertility journey. Having lived this journey myself, I know that the minute you find yourself on it, it’s like drinking from a relentless firehose of information.
Not only do you have your diagnosis or guess at a diagnosis, But you are instantaneously hit with statistics, cautionary tales of woe, conflicting advice about diets, supplements, treatments, lotions, potions, and what you quote unquote should be doing, that it can drive you into a catatonic state. It’s scary as shit.
Not just for those of us who didn’t go to medical school, but with my coaching practice loaded with physicians from around the world, I know for a fact that it’s bananas even for those on this journey with the letters MD after their name. It can be so hard to make sense of all the information that we just find it easier to follow the path of least resistance and just sort of do what everyone tells us to do.
We hand our power over cheaply, And easily. That’s pretty much what we’re conditioned to do when we come face to face with the quote unquote experts. So, what can a gorgeous, smart, professional, capable woman, hell bent on success, do to take her power back and be sure that she’s truly on the right path to her mama makin dreams?
Simple. She starts with a three word question. Is this true? Then, because she is a badass, she dresses it up. She makes that question transformational by adding two clutch words. For me. Is this true for me? Quick pro tip, you, my love, are the best arbiter of whether something is true or not true for you.
It’s in your soul and has no educational prerequisite. With everything from statistics to anecdotes about your sister’s friend’s cousin who got pregnant naturally at 52 by eating pineapple and rubbing crystals all over her body, coming your way at 90 miles an hour. It’s easy to get caught up in the shiny object syndrome that is characteristic on this journey.
We just want to have our fucking baby, so we will do just about anything. Sensible or downright crazy to get there. And I feel you 100 percent on that. Because the bitch tickling your tympanic membrane right now Got down with boiling black chickens and steaming her vagina because she thought it was going to make Asher’s arrival lickety split.
True story. I’ll have to tell you about that sometime. Car razy! The point, my love, of presenting you with this simple but transformational question is to not only empower you, But to fire up your critical thinking skills on this journey, because I don’t care who I’m talking to. Lawyers, bankers, physicians, women of power all over the world.
For some reason, there’s something about this journey that has us toss our critical thinking skills right out the window. My darling, let’s help you get that back. Here’s why. It doesn’t fucking matter what worked for 20 other people who are nothing like you. Women who beat the odds are focused on what’s right for them.
Their unique situation. They are not interested in a cookie cutter shotgun in the dark approach. Getting laser focused on what is actually going to help you can save you not only thousands of dollars, but may help you get to Mama Town a hell of a lot faster. I totally get the drive to have the comfort of knowing you are doing everything you can to have your baby, but this simple question, is this true, for me, will enable you to be smart as fuck about it in the process.
Now here’s a funny thing about this question. It takes ovaries of steel to ask it. When you ask it, the presupposition is that you are worthy of something more than a cursory consideration. It means your unique circumstance matters. It puts everyone on notice that you are discerning and you expect attention to be paid.
You’d agree that your dreams are worth that, right? This is a powerful question to have in your back pocket when being hit up with statistics, a new treatment protocol, evaluating supplements, jumping on any extreme diet, or other option that you’re presented with. The point is, quit wasting time, money, and resources on shit that isn’t exactly for you.
Now, certainly there’s some trial and error to be had, as with anything, but opening the conversation with this question, is this true for me? will help you endure way less trial and keep the error to a minimum. I want to take a few steps back for a second. I mentioned how powerful this question can be when it comes to statistics.
This is a point I want to emphasize because this journey is rife with fear. Everyone has horror stories and for some odd reason we treat statistics as if they are law. When you use this question intelligently, It literally becomes a filter for freak out. Sure, someone’s uncle’s sister’s hairstylist may have undergone 15 rounds of IVF and went broke in the process, but what the fuck does that have to do with you?
Is that true for you? Consider this question your barrier against bullshit. Not only is this question practical due to its intelligent inquiry, it literally slows your thought process down so you can really evaluate the information presented, thereby keeping the freakout quotient down. There’s already enough going on in this process.
You want to limit the tendency to take on other people’s misery in the process and make it somehow true for you. You’ve got to think critically, my love. To round this out Let’s quickly talk about what to do if something is true or not true for you. If you have evaluated that something is true for you, then take it on, rock it out.
Give yourself plenty of permission to continue using this transformational question, is this true for me, down whatever avenue this journey takes you. It keeps you firmly in control of your fertility destiny. Pretty awesome, right? Now, if something is not true for you, speak that truth and own your hell no.
It’s not personal. You aren’t mad. It just doesn’t work for you. You don’t really owe anyone an explanation, but if you feel compelled, Just be honest and steadfast. Taking the time to ask if something is true for you is a powerful way to keep your perspective smart and your butt firmly in the driver’s seat on your journey.
It’s a delicious recipe for fearlessness. Till next time, change your mindset, change your results. Love this episode of the Fearlessly Fertile podcast? Subscribe now and leave an awesome review.
