As I write this, I’m sipping my “cuppa” and marveling at how dramatically my life has changed, in what feels like the blink of an eye.
40 days ago, The Austin Family moved to Idaho. In the dead of winter. With a toddler. Three cats and three dogs in tow. No friends or family waiting to greet us.
While there were moments when this move was a complete shit-show, the thing my husband and I keep saying to each other is, “Why the hell didn’t we do it sooner?”
The answer is simple. We had constructed elaborate, seemingly reasonable, and logical explanations for why we “had” to wait years for this dream to come true.
HUGE MISTAKE, because upon closer scrutiny, it was plain as day that these stories were total bullshit.
Within days of that realization, we were on a plane and bought our house.
By challenging our beliefs, we turned what could have been YEARS into 40 days.
While I don’t think moving from California to Idaho is particularly remarkable, I believe the lesson I’m sharing is.
It’s a lesson my fertility journey taught me, and has proven true for my clients around the world who beat the odds…clearly I needed a reminder.
When you drop the bullshit stories, you can have anything you want…with more ease, and probably faster than you think.
Not sure if you are living by a story?
They sound kinda like this: “too old,” “too many “failures,” “not worthy,” “can’t afford it,” “waited too long,” “should’ve/would’ve happened by now,” and worst of all…”impossible.”
Doubt this? Try it.
I bet you’ll send me an email saying, “I’m pregnant! Why the hell didn’t I do this sooner?”
My ladies get what they want.
They know dropping “the stories” obliterates the blocks standing between them and being the Mom they were meant to be.
Decide you will be one of them.
Change your mindset, change your results.
Lots of love,
Intrigued? Here’s an exercise to take this to the next level…
Identify Your Bullshittiest of Stories.
How do you know if you are living under the tyranny of a story or limiting belief? Simple. Take the belief and run it through this fool-proof test:
- It’s intellectually dishonest–skewed only toward the most negative, sky-is-falling view of the particular situation.
- It’s smeared with fear, lack, and scarcity.
- It’s the kind of shit you would never say to another person.
- It makes you feel like CRAP.
What would be possible for you, if this story wasn’t running the show? Anything.
