Last week I shared how to neutralize your What Ifs like a frickin’ assassin.
Now, we are going to engage in some 3-dimensional chess (not really, but kinda) when it comes to taking the next step…using What Ifs to your advantage.
To beat What Ifs at their own game and make them submit to YOU, it comes down to one thing.
Focus.
Focus is everything, because left to their own devices, What Ifs can be shady AF.
They will manipulate you into focusing on one narrow set of sky-is-falling facts, instead of offering the whole, unadulterated truth, in context.
It’s like Fake News for your fertility journey.
For every negative What If, there is an equally persuasive, Positive Possibility.
The negative What Ifs might be louder at present, but that doesn’t make them right.
Bullies bombastically bluster to control your focus and knock you off your game.
Quit falling for it.
Take assiduous responsibility for your focus.
When YOU control YOUR focus, YOU control YOUR narrative.
This is how you can use What Ifs to your advantage.
Focus your energy on the possibility that shit could go right.
Focus your creative power on how things CAN work for you.
This might seem like a gargantuan feat when negative What Ifs have been stealing your mental lunch money for decades.
It just takes practice.
What if things actually work out perfectly for me?
What if my baby comes right on time?
What if this journey is a gift?
What if I AM a unicorn?
Feels better already, doesn’t it?
My ladies use What Ifs to their advantage.
They focus on the ones that keep them winning…not spinning.
Decide you will be one of them.
Change your mindset, change your results.
Intrigued? Here’s an exercise to take this to the next level…
Make What Ifs Work For You
1) When a negative What If shows up, respond to it with a sassy, self-assured AF: Iwill find a way!
2) Immediately decide where you will focus–more cray cray Chicken Little bullshit, or Positive Possibilities? Use your creative power for good. The impact on your journey will be insane!
3) Turn the shitty What Ifs around on themselves and ask What Ifs that feel great and are just as legit! (See the examples above.)
Just because something is negative doesn’t make it more credible. Use your critical thinking skills here. See beyond the bluster. Refuse to be bullied.
The WHOLE TRUTH is anything is possible–even the good shit. If you are honest with yourself, you will see how this has actually played out in your life.
Make this your new What If habit…keep me posted!
